Random Test

Since 1999 the pulsating rhythms of the Caribbean sound of Random Test have been heard along the jersey shores. Random Test a culturally diverse member group hailing from Jamaica, Grenada, London, Trinidad & Tobago, Mexico and the USA together brings a blend of Roots Rock Reggae, Lovers Rock, and Calypso that has taken the Tri State by storm. Band influences include reggae and calypso music from such greats as Bob Marley, Steel Pulse, Third World, Sade and the Mighty Sparrow. The Random Test band is located in central New Jersey, playing regularly at Echo in Red Bank, NJ.  The band also performs around the tri-state area at well-known establishments. The band has opened for some of the greatest reggae acts around, such as, The Wailers, Burning Spear, Culture, Wailing Souls, Third World and Kymani Marley. ZEYBRAH

ZEYBRAH is a not-for-profit, community based, cultural organization which creates quality programs for diverse cultures from around the world, with emphasis on the cultural expressions of the peoples of Africa and the Caribbean.  ZEYBRAH plans, facilitates and produces Arts Expositions, including art festivals, live dance performances, music, drama, multi-media art exhibits, video and film screenings.  In addition,  ZEYBRAH conducts training and informative workshops exploring the roots and elements of culturally diverse music, dance, drama and visual arts.  For additional information on program events and workshops, please call  (732) 290-0927

The Wisdomkeeper (as Sojourner Truth)

Lorraine Stone, also known as "The Wisdomkeeper," debuted her one woman show in Asbury Park in 1998.  Her historical and lyrical performances include poetry from such masters  as Paul Laurence Dunbar, James Weldon Johnson and Langston Hughes. In addition, Lorraine resurrects the persona of such legendary African American women as Sojourner Truth and Harriet Tubman to provide her audiences with an intimate, "first hand" account their extraordinary life journey.  The Wisdom Keeper. presentations open up new pathways for exploring history, literature and social studies.  A resident of Eatontown, Lorraine Stone holds a B.A. in Communications Arts and Sciences and has worked as a newspaper and television journalist as well as director of Trinity School for the Arts at Trinity Episcopal Church in Asbury Park. ArtsCap, the Arts Coalition of Asbury Park, is a coalition of artists, citizens and cultural organizations who are dedicated to the promotion and advancement of the arts through collaboration, advocacy, and education. The Monmouth County Teen Arts

The Monmouth County Teen Arts is part of a statewide multidisciplinary program in the fine and performing arts. Serving students and teachers in both public and private schools since 1969, the program encompasses activities in dance, theater, vocal music, instrumental music, film and video, photography, creative writing and the visual arts. Local Commotion

The mission of Local Commotion is to integrate performance with education, going beyond the scope of history textbooks. By poignantly examining the lives of American women from the simple pilgrim to staunch abolitionists opposed to the injustices of slavery, Local Commotion makes U.S. history a more tangible course of study. Programs include "Constance Merriweather," "The Fight For Freedom" (Sarah Bradford and Harriet Tubman) and "The Power of Women" (Angelina Grimke and Harriet Jacobs). Count Basie Theatre

Founded in 1926, this 1,400-seat theater is known for first class entertainment in an intimate setting. The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra has played a schedule here for many decades. Famous musical artists frequently perform at the venue in what are usually sold-out performances. In recent years, the theater has expanded its offerings to a wider audience to include Family shows, musical plays, comedians and famous political commentators.

Jersey Shore Jazz and Blues Foundation

The Jersey Shore Jazz & Blues Foundation (JSJBF) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation whose mission is to preserve, promote, and perpetuate Jazz and Blues in the northern New Jersey shore region through performance and education.  The organization has a rapidly growing membership base of over 300 members which includes performing members and supporting members.  Organizational Programs include:

- Festivals and Concert Series such as the Red Bank Jazz and Blues Festival, Harpin' Help, and Reckless Steamy Nights.

Algonquin Arts

 

Algonquin Arts, a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation, was founded in 1991 to provide cultural enrichment for residents of Monmouth and Ocean Counties. This mission is accomplished by presenting a wide range of arts programming, including dramatic and musical theatre, dance, musical concerts and film representing a diversity of style and cultural influence, film and mixed media presentations. These presentations are offered to the public in the setting of the 540-seat Algonquin Arts Theatre located in Manasquan, New Jersey, which reopened to the public in 1994 following an extensive renovation.  Since the founding of Algonquin Arts and the reopening of The Algonquin Arts Theatre, over 500,000 Shore residents have experienced a broad spectrum of the performing, visual and media arts without paying high fees or enduring lengthy travel.
